Tony Buzbee’s law firm, based in Houston, along with the San Antonio-based Gamez Law Firm, is representing the family of Brianna Aguilera, a 19-year-old Texas A&M University student who tragically died after falling from a high-rise apartment in Austin late last year. During a recent press conference held in Houston, her parents, with their attorneys by their side, expressed their determination to uncover the truth surrounding Brianna’s passing.

Attorney Tony Buzbee announced intentions to provide critical updates on the ongoing investigation. He emphasized that the investigation remains active, contradicting previous statements made by the Austin Police Department, which had suggested the inquiry was closed. “We have expended substantial resources on this matter and will continue to do so until the family has the answers they deserve,” Buzbee stated, highlighting the family’s commitment to seeking justice.

Aguilera’s death, which occurred in December, prompted the family to engage Buzbee and Gamez Law Firms shortly after. Initial reports from the Austin Police indicated that Aguilera fell from the 17th floor, and while authorities did not initially suspect foul play, they later uncovered a suicide note and evidence suggesting self-harm. However, Aguilera’s mother, Stephanie Rodriguez, has publicly challenged the assertion regarding her daughter’s mental health, stating unequivocally, “My daughter was not suicidal.”

Buzbee also disputed the police’s authority to determine the cause of death and expressed his plans to formally request an investigation by the Texas Rangers. This led to the filing of a lawsuit in Travis County’s 250th District Court, which lists Aguilera’s parents as plaintiffs alongside Austin Blacks Rugby and the UT Latin Economics and Business Associations.

In light of this heart-wrenching event, it is crucial for those struggling with mental health issues to seek help. Resources are available, such as the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 988 or the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI), which provides support and assistance to individuals in crisis. The continued advocacy by Aguilera’s family sheds light on the importance of transparency and thorough investigations in similar cases, aiming to provide closure for families affected by similar tragedies.
