Fall Vibes: Cooler Temperatures and Northern Lights Hopes in Maryland

Clear skies and slightly cooler temperatures are expected, giving a feel of fall in the air. If you plan to head outside, consider bringing a light jacket. Today is shaping up to be pleasant, with current temperatures around 59 degrees at BWI Marshall, 63 downtown, and 61 in Woodstock. While much of the area will hover around the upper 60s this afternoon, we may reach the low 70s in some spots. Tonight, temperatures will drop into the 40s under clear skies.

Yesterday, there was a stunning display of the Northern Lights across Maryland, and many shared their photos on social media. Unfortunately, tonight’s conditions may not be as favorable. Although clear skies could enhance visibility for the lights, a recent forecast indicates that the viewing area has shifted farther north, making it unlikely that many will witness a strong display, though there’s still a possibility.

Looking ahead, tomorrow will also be beautiful with sunny weather, maybe a cloud or two, and slightly warmer temperatures moving up toward the upper 70s. Sunday promises to be a great day for a game, as the Ravens face off against the Commanders, with expected temperatures in the low 80s and a slight breeze.

As we enter next week, a cooler trend is expected, with temperatures dipping into the 50s on Tuesday and Wednesday, along with cooler morning lows.
