“Exclusive Peek Inside American Express’s Newest Centurion Lounge”

American Express revealed on Tuesday that it will be unveiling another high-end Centurion airport lounge at a new location. The latest addition will open on Wednesday at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Washington, D.C.

“The Centurion Lounge is one of our Card Members’ favorite travel benefits, and the new location at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport offers Card Members the premium amenities they love in an airport they frequently travel through,” said Audrey Hendley, president of American Express Travel, in a statement.

Reagan National is the 24th-largest airport in the U.S. by passenger enplanements, according to the Department of Transportation. This location will be home to the 15th Centurion lounge that American Express has opened in the country.

The lounge, which is exclusively available to Platinum and Centurion cardholders, will feature a menu designed by three award-winning chefs, along with amenities like a meeting room, a shower suite, and an art collection that includes a ceiling sculpture made up of 260 lanterns representing D.C.’s original boundaries.

Providing access to luxury experiences and top-tier amenities is central to American Express’s marketing strategy to its cardholders. Recently, the company spent $400 million to acquire the restaurant reservation management firm Tock as part of this approach. Speaking at an aviation conference last year, AmEx executive Manisha Jain highlighted that Centurion lounges have become a significant draw for cardholders over the past decade.

“We always hear from our customers that they arrive early if there’s going to be a Centurion Lounge there,” she said.
