Joe La Puma, the host of Sneaker Shopping and Card Shopping, teams up with Caleb McLaughlin, known for his role in Stranger Things, for an exclusive glimpse into GOAT, an upcoming animated film produced by NBA star Steph Curry.

The film, inspired by Chris Tougas’s book Funky Dunks, features McLaughlin as the character Will Harris, who in a scene unveiled exclusively through Complex, faces a tough decision: selling his beloved Fillmore 4 sneakers. “Boom, check these out,” McLaughlin’s character, a goat, quips to La Puma’s character, Sneaky, a sneaker shop owner who is a vulture.

During the exchange, Will suggests that the coveted sneakers typically fetch “around six,” but he offers them for just five. Sneaky, played by La Puma, inspects the shoes and humorously declares them to have a distinct “nutty” quality.

The full clip is available for viewing above. GOAT is set to premiere in theaters on February 13, with Tyree Dillihay directing and Adam Rosette co-directing. The voice cast also includes iconic talents such as Gabrielle Union, Steph Curry, Nick Kroll, David Harbour, and Jennifer Hudson.

In addition to GOAT, Curry is contributing to other significant projects this year. Notably, the short film The Baddest Speechwriter of All, which highlights Martin Luther King Jr.’s lawyer and speechwriter Clarence B. Jones, recently won the Short Film Grand Jury Prize at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival. Complex has reviewed the film and affirms it stands out as one of the most notable selections from this year’s festival. In a compelling twist, Curry not only produces the short but also interviews Jones, who shares his powerful life story filled with inspiration.

GOAT promises to be an exciting addition to animated cinema, blending humor, sports culture, and star power. As anticipation builds for its release, audiences can look forward to witnessing McLaughlin’s journey in the sport of “roarball,” a fresh and engaging narrative brought to life by a talented cast and creative team.
