McDonald’s has decided to extend its popular $5 meal deal for a few more weeks. According to a memo reported by Bloomberg, most McDonald’s locations in the U.S. have agreed to continue the promotion past its initial four-week run, which started on June 25.
The deal will still be available at approximately 93% of McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, though the duration of the extension may differ by location, with some chains continuing the offer until August.
In an environment where consumers are facing high food prices, particularly in fast-casual dining, the McDonald’s bundle has proven successful for the company. Foot traffic analytics firm Placer.ai reported a significant increase in customer visits to McDonald’s restaurants following the launch of the meal deal, indicating strong consumer interest.
This promotion has prompted other fast-casual dining chains to introduce competitive offers. Arby’s has introduced a $9 bundle, and Sonic has added a permanent $1.99 value menu. In June, Taco Bell launched a $7 Luxe Cravings Box for a limited period, in addition to its $5 Taco Discovery Box and Cravings Value Menu.
In late May, Burger King announced that its $5 “Your Way Meal” bundle would continue beyond the original McDonald’s offer. Earlier in the month, Burger King also introduced new items as part of its “Fiery Menu.”
Wendy’s has joined the fray with a $3 breakfast bundle and is now offering a $5 combo called the “Biggie Bag.”
