Rufus Sewell, Louis Partridge, Fiona Shaw, and Daryl McCormack are among the notable U.K. actors cast in Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of “Pride and Prejudice.” Production has officially commenced in the U.K., with Dolly Alderton, known for “Everything I Know About Love,” serving as the producer and writer. The series is directed by Euros Lyn, celebrated for his work on “Heartstopper,” and promises to be a “faithful, classic adaptation” of Jane Austen’s beloved novel.
Netflix recently shared a first-look image featuring the Bennet sisters, heightening anticipation for the series. Sewell will portray the iconic Mr. Bennet, while Partridge takes on the role of Mr. Wickham, the antagonistic figure to Mr. Darcy. Shaw, famously known for her role in the “Harry Potter” series, will play the formidable Lady Catherine de Bourgh, and McCormack has been cast as the amiable Mr. Bingley.
Additional cast members include Jamie Demetriou as the pompous Mr. Collins, Freya Mavor as Jane Bennet, Rhea Norwood as Lydia Bennet, and newcomers Hollie Avery and Hopey Parish, who will make their screen debuts as Kitty and Mary Bennet, respectively. Other cast additions include Anjana Vasan as Mrs. Gardiner and Sebastian Armesto as Mr. Gardiner, among several others.
