Sony Interactive Entertainment has revealed the free Essential games for PlayStation Plus subscribers for May 2025. Starting June 3, players will have access to NBA 2K25, Alone in the Dark, and Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. Additionally, subscribers will receive the highly anticipated expansion, Destiny 2: The Final Shape, beginning May 28.
NBA 2K25, which launched in September 2024, showcases 2K Sports’ innovative ProPlay technology that brings true NBA footage into the gameplay experience. Each player can explore various modes, including MyCareer, MyTeam, MyNBA, and The W, featuring WNBA athletes from diverse eras. This title will be available for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
The reimagined version of the survival horror classic Alone in the Dark, featuring performances by David Harbour and Jodie Comer, will be available for PS5 players, promising an engaging and chilling experience.
Bomb Rush Cyberfunk takes inspiration from Jet Set Radio, placing players in the role of graffiti crews who battle for street control. With inline skates, skateboards, and BMX bikes, players can use their creativity to mark territory. This game will also be playable on both PS4 and PS5.
The expansion Destiny 2: The Final Shape is a significant addition to Bungie’s acclaimed title, allowing players to delve into the narrative as they confront the ongoing War of Light and Darkness. This expansion will be accessible on PS4 and PS5.
PS Plus Essential subscribers can still download May 2025’s offerings, including Ark: Survival Ascended, Balatro, and Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, until June 2.
This lineup not only provides an exciting array of gaming experiences but also showcases continued innovation in game development, allowing players to engage with both new and reimagined titles. As the gaming community eagerly anticipates these releases, many look forward to the unique gameplay experiences set to unfold in June.
