The sequel to the beloved film “The Devil Wears Prada” is generating excitement as new cast members join the production. Simone Ashley, known for her role in “Bridgerton,” will be part of the ensemble, along with Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, BJ Novak, and Pauline Chalamet from “The Sex Lives of College Girls.” Broadway stars Helen J Shen and Conrad Ricamora, as well as comedian Caleb Hearon, are also set to feature in the film.
The film will see the return of Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Anne Hathaway, reprising their iconic roles from the original 2006 hit, which grossed over $326 million worldwide. Kenneth Branagh is stepping in as the husband of the formidable fashion magazine editor Miranda Priestly, played by Streep.
Directed by David Frankel, the sequel focuses on Miranda Priestly as she navigates challenges in the declining magazine industry while reconciling with her former assistant, Emily Charlton, portrayed by Blunt, who now holds an influential position in a luxury conglomerate.
The original story, based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel, showcased the trials of aspiring journalist Andy Sachs, played by Hathaway, as she worked under the demanding Priestly. Notably, Weisberger’s characters were inspired by her experiences working for former Vogue editor Anna Wintour, who recently stepped down after 37 years in her role.
As the anticipation for “The Devil Wears Prada 2” builds, it is heartening to see familiar faces return to tell a new story that resonates with the evolving landscape of fashion and media. The sequel is slated for release in the summer of 2026, bringing hope for fans eager to revisit the chic and often tumultuous world of high fashion.
