Evangeline Lilly has recently opened up about her health struggles, revealing that she has sustained “brain damage” following a traumatic accident during a trip to Hawaii last year. The Canadian actress, widely recognized for her role as Hope Van Dyne, or the Wasp, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, experienced a serious injury after fainting on a beach in 2025.

In May, Lilly explained the details of her accident, stating that she collapsed and fell face-first onto a boulder. The impact left her with facial scars, bruising, and what she initially thought to be a concussion.

In an emotional Instagram video shared on January 1, 2026, Lilly provided an update on her health after undergoing a brain scan. “A lot of you have asked how I’m doing,” she said, highlighting her followers’ concern for her well-being. Unfortunately, the scan results indicated that nearly every area of her brain is functioning at a reduced capacity.

“I do have brain damage from the TBI (traumatic brain injury) and possibly other factors going on,” Lilly shared. Doctors are still assessing the full extent of her condition, and she acknowledged the challenging journey ahead. “My job now is to get to the bottom of that with my doctors,” she stated.

Lilly has recognized that her recovery will be arduous. However, she remains hopeful, expressing her gratitude for being alive. Reflecting on the changes this experience has caused in her life, she noted that it has encouraged her to adopt a slower pace, leading to a more restful and reflective holiday season.

Despite the challenges she faces, Lilly’s positive outlook and determination to address her health issues are inspiring. Her journey serves as a reminder of the importance of resilience and appreciation for life, even when faced with significant hurdles.
