Evangelical Leaders Unite: Major Congress Set to Ignite Faith in Berlin

Over 1,000 evangelical pastors and leaders from 56 countries are set to convene in Berlin, Germany, later this month for the European Congress on Evangelism, hosted by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA). The congress will be held from May 27 to 30 at the JW Marriott hotel, centering around the theme from Romans 1:16, which emphasizes the power of the gospel for all believers.

This gathering is anticipated to be the most comprehensive assembly of evangelical leaders in Europe since the 2000 event in Amsterdam. It will feature 20 speakers from 13 nations and provide simultaneous interpretation in 10 languages, aiming to inspire and equip believers across various denominations for bold evangelism.

Franklin Graham, president and CEO of the BGEA, highlighted the importance of Berlin, marking it as the site where his father, the late evangelist Billy Graham, first convened a World Congress on Evangelism in 1966. Franklin reflected on the city’s historical significance and its influence on the world.

The event plans to rejuvenate the faith of attendees, with a focus on rekindling a passion for sharing the gospel. The program includes worship led by renowned artists like Michael W. Smith and Charity Gayle, alongside contributions from various European Christian musicians.

Dr. Hugh Osgood, president of Churches in Communities International, expressed the urgency for the church in Europe to reclaim its confidence and commitment to the gospel. This congress offers a unique opportunity for believers to gather, inspire each other, and further advance God’s kingdom.

Prominent speakers will include Will Graham, Cissie Graham Lynch, Greg Laurie, and Päivi Räsänen, among others, each addressing pivotal aspects of evangelism in today’s world. Marc Van de Wouwer, a Belgian evangelist who attended the Amsterdam congress in 2000, expressed his eagerness to participate, reflecting on the profound influence of previous congresses on his ministry and commitment to nurturing future evangelists.

The European Congress on Evangelism represents a hopeful convergence of faith and mission, emphasizing the shared goal of spreading the Gospel amidst contemporary challenges. More information about the congress can be accessed at BerlinCongress.com.
