Eva Longoria recently shared her decision to shift her home base from Los Angeles and the United States, spending more time in Spain and Mexico. Following Donald Trump’s recent electoral victory over Kamala Harris, the actress expressed her discomfort with what she perceives as a “dystopian” environment in the U.S., feeling particularly for those Americans who have no choice but to remain in this state.
In an interview with Marie Claire, Longoria stated, “I’m privileged… Most Americans aren’t so lucky. They’re going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them.” She emphasized that the pandemic significantly influenced her move, explaining that it highlighted the changes happening in California even before COVID-19.
Longoria noted various challenges in the state, such as homelessness and high taxes, as factors prompting her to close the chapter on her life in California. She has relocated with her husband, José Bastón, and their young son, Santiago.
The politically active producer, known for her campaigning efforts, was not particularly surprised by Trump’s re-election, remarking on the concerning implications of a convicted individual holding such power. She stated, “I would like to think our fight continues… if he keeps his promises, it’s going to be a scary place.”
Longoria’s reflections resonate deeply with many who have felt disillusioned by the political climate and social issues in the U.S., and her decision serves as a reminder of the diverse ways individuals navigate their responses to their environment and seek a sense of peace.
This move can be viewed as a hopeful opportunity for Longoria to find inspiration and engage with communities that resonate with her ideals, potentially leading to new creative projects and initiatives. With her focus on political engagement and social issues, she may continue to leverage her platform for positive change, regardless of her geographical location.
