Espanyol Set for Monday Night La Liga Showdown with Sevilla

RCD Espanyol is set to resume their LaLiga campaign after the international break with an important match against Sevilla FC on Monday night. Head coach Manolo González expressed his determination to secure a victory as the team aims to regain their winning form.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of the match, González emphasized the significance of the upcoming game. “We’re really eager to have a good match and get back to winning ways. For me, every match is equally important, in that we want to secure three points and win at home again,” he stated.

González acknowledged the challenges posed by Sevilla, mentioning their strong physical presence and high pressing style. He noted, “Every game is difficult for everyone. We’ll field an attacking side, as we have all season. If they have a good day, they can beat anyone, like they did against FC Barcelona. But we’ll give it our all from the first minute.”

Reflecting on the team’s progress, he mentioned, “We have taken steps forward in terms of our play, but there are still things to improve. We need to keep more clean sheets and be more effective in attack.” He recognized that while Espanyol is creating more scoring opportunities than last season, winning remains a formidable task, especially when competing against top teams in the league. “Those at the top are the only ones capable of winning three or four games in a row. The rest of us struggle much more, making the league more competitive,” he added.

González also called attention to the scheduling of Monday night matches, arguing that late-night games may discourage full stadiums. He suggested a need for adjustments based on audience considerations, saying, “If we want full stadiums, playing on a Monday at nine o’clock at night makes no sense. We have to learn from other leagues.”

With renewed focus and determination, RCD Espanyol aims to take a significant step forward in their season during the upcoming match against a formidable opponent.
