Ireland AM presenter Eric Roberts has shared insights into his preparation for this week’s live show of Dancing With The Stars (DWTS), revealing a notable requirement from the show’s makeup department. As he competes in his third week of the popular RTÉ series, the Donegal native is gearing up for a performance themed around Movie Week, in which he will showcase a samba to the tune of “Cuban Pete” from the Jim Carrey film, The Mask.

In a lighthearted update on his Instagram, Eric expressed his enthusiasm for the performance while noting that he must clean shave—something he admits he hasn’t done in quite some time. He humorously reflected on his new look, stating, “Oh okay well, that’s not – that’s not good,” which elicited amused reactions from fans. Comments flooded in, with one friend stating, “Mmm not a fan of the clean cut,” while another joked, “Takes years off you.” Supportive messages included encouragement for his upcoming performance, with one user assuring him, “You can do this, best of luck.”

Eric also addressed the misconception that his prior dance experience as part of the hip-hop duo Static Movement gives him an upper hand on the show. Having performed for nearly a decade and competed on Sky One’s Got to Dance, he explained that dance backgrounds vary significantly among contestants. He acknowledged that last year’s winner, Rhys McClenaghan, was an Olympic champion, emphasizing that many past contestants have far more extensive dance training than he does.

This season, fellow competitors like Olympic rower Philip Doyle are also bringing impressive athletic backgrounds to the dance floor, with Eric jokingly noting Doyle’s towering height and athletic physique. While Eric is adapting to the various styles required on the show, he reflects that they are a significant departure from his foundational hip-hop roots. As he navigates the challenges of competitive dancing, his vibrant spirit and humor continue to entertain fans, making his journey an engaging aspect of the DWTS experience.
