Xbox and Treyarch have officially announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will be unveiled during GamesCom this August. The world premiere is scheduled for Opening Night Live on August 19th at 11:00 a.m. PT / 2 p.m. ET. Activision has teased fans with the promise of “epic twists, developer intel, and the official start of a bold new chapter in Black Ops history.”
This announcement follows the reveal of Black Ops 7 during the Xbox Games Showcase in June, where a brief teaser provided glimpses of the storyline. Set in the year 2035, the game continues the series’ tradition of intense narrative, thrusting players into a world marred by conflict and psychological warfare that follows the events of Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 6. Players will take on the role of the Black Ops team, led by David Mason, battling an enemy that exploits fear as a weapon.
Notably, Black Ops 7 marks a historic milestone for the Call of Duty franchise, being the first time Black Ops installments have been released in successive years. Its predecessor, Black Ops 6, was launched in October 2024, introducing players to covert CIA operatives Troy Marshall and Frank Woods on a mission against the clandestine paramilitary group known as Pantheon.
While specific details regarding the campaign for Black Ops 7 remain scarce, it has been confirmed that the game will include a cooperative campaign mode, multiplayer features with new maps, and innovative weaponry. Additionally, the celebrated Round-Based Zombies mode will return, plunging players into further chaos within the Dark Aether.
The impending reveal will likely highlight the campaign aspect, as multiplayer details are typically revealed at later events. Last year’s multiplayer showcase for Black Ops 6 occurred during the Call of Duty NEXT event in late August, paving the way for a potentially thrilling September.
Set to launch later this year—presumably in late October or early November—Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will be accessible across a range of platforms, including Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox PC, Xbox Cloud, Game Pass, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Battle.net, and Steam.
With the promise of cutting-edge gameplay and engaging storylines ahead, fans of the franchise have much to look forward to with this latest installment.
