On July 4th, the iconic Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks display will illuminate the New York City skyline from its starting point at the Brooklyn Bridge and a series of four barges positioned in the East River, near the Seaport District and Brooklyn Bridge Park. This spectacular event will commence at around 9:25 PM and will last for 25 minutes, showcasing an array of stunning fireworks and pyrotechnics.

The planned display promises to be extraordinary, featuring captivating effects like crackling crown jellyfish, atomic rings, vibrant sunbursts in yellow and green, strobing lemon cascades, and comet fans, among other dazzling elements. Fireworks will soar over 1,000 feet into the air, with a total of 80,000 shells in 30 different colors set to light up the night.

For those wishing to watch the fireworks in Brooklyn, Brooklyn Bridge Park is designated as the sole public viewing area. On July 1st, free lottery tickets will be available for the public, with 100,000 tickets planned to be distributed through a city-wide lottery.

Certain logistics will be in place to ensure a smooth and safe event. The Brooklyn Heights Promenade will close at 2 PM, and access will be restricted in the DUMBO area beginning at that time. Residents in DUMBO will need to show identification and proof of residence to enter, while guests will have specific check-in points. The NYC Ferry service will also cease operations to Brooklyn Bridge Park at 3 PM.

Moreover, numerous local businesses, including Randolph Beer Rooftop and Time Out Market, are hosting ticketed events for those aged 21 and older, or 12 and up, providing even more opportunities to celebrate the holiday.

Brooklyn Bridge Park will undergo significant changes in operations throughout the day. Limited sections of the park will open at 6 AM, but all piers will be closed. The park will close to all visitors at 3:30 PM, reopening at 6:30 PM exclusively for those with free tickets obtained from the lottery.

This year’s event promises to be a memorable celebration of Independence Day, allowing residents and visitors alike to gather safely to enjoy one of New York City’s most cherished traditions.
