A sequel to the popular Minecraft movie is officially in the works, and anticipation is building among fans who hope to see the iconic Ender Dragon make its big-screen debut. Producer Roy Lee recently shared insights during an interview with Collider, revealing that there has been a strong demand from fans for the inclusion of the formidable Ender Dragon in the sequel. “A lot of people said, ‘Yeah, just make that movie, but make sure the Ender Dragon is in it,’” he noted, highlighting the character’s significance to the franchise.

While this statement doesn’t serve as an official confirmation of the Ender Dragon’s appearance, it certainly suggests that the character is on the producers’ radar. Additionally, Lee provided an update on the sequel’s production status, stating, “The status of that is it’s going forward. It starts production in April of this year in New Zealand.”

The first Minecraft movie, directed by Jared Hess, was a significant success upon its release in 2025, raking in nearly $1 billion globally. Its unexpected triumph led to a quick announcement of a sequel, slated for release on July 23, 2027, much to the delight of fans eager for more Minecraft-inspired adventures.

Jason Momoa is expected to reprise his role in the sequel, expressing enthusiasm about the script during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. “The script is even better. It’s so good, I was laughing out loud. I haven’t laughed out loud in a very long time at a script,” he said, indicating a promising continuation of the story.

While official casting details remain under wraps, returning voices may include Jack Black as Steve, Danielle Brooks as Dawn, Emma Myers as Natalie, and Sebastian Hansen as Henry.
