A cherished initiative that allowed Georgia library cardholders to enjoy free access to Zoo Atlanta is set to conclude on June 1, 2025. The Georgia Public Library Service announced that the Zoo Atlanta Library Pass program, which has been operational for 14 years, will officially end and the last opportunity to check out a pass will be on May 31. However, those who already possess a pass or voucher can still utilize it during a grace period that extends until June 30.
This program has provided thousands of families across Georgia the chance to experience the wonders of the zoo at no cost, showcasing the importance of community resources and partnerships. The Georgia Public Library Service expressed gratitude for the longstanding collaboration with Zoo Atlanta in their efforts to serve local residents.
Although the library pass will no longer be available, Zoo Atlanta is committed to maintaining accessibility. The zoo will continue to provide various options for free or discounted admission, catering to military personnel, veterans, senior citizens, Title I schools, and more.
This transition marks the end of an era for many, but it is hopeful to see that the spirit of accessibility and community support will continue in other forms at Zoo Atlanta. By fostering partnerships with schools and offering discounts to vulnerable populations, the zoo remains dedicated to enriching the lives of its visitors.
