A surprising change is on the horizon for the Emmy Awards nominations. This Tuesday morning, CBS will announce the nominees for two categories—best reality competition series and best talk series—almost four hours prior to the official announcement from the Television Academy.
This special reveal will take place on CBS Mornings at 7:47 a.m. ET/4:47 a.m. PT, ahead of the traditional nomination unveiling scheduled at 11:30 a.m. ET/8:30 a.m. PT. The nominations will be revealed by Harvey Guillén of FX’s What We Do in the Shadows and Brenda Song from Netflix’s Running Point during a live presentation on the TV Academy’s website and YouTube channel.
The upcoming 2025 Emmys are set for September 14, and will be broadcast on CBS and streamed live via Paramount+. Comedian Nate Bargatze is set to host the event, which is shaping up to be a noteworthy occasion in the entertainment calendar.
Last year’s Emmy winners demonstrated the evolving tastes of audiences, with The Traitors taking the crown in the reality competition category, ending RuPaul’s Drag Race’s long-standing dominance. Meanwhile, The Daily Show secured the Emmy for best talk series. Other notable wins included Hacks for best comedy and Shogun for best drama.
With anticipation building for this year’s nominations, fans and critics alike are eager to see how the landscape of television continues to change and who will emerge as the frontrunners in the upcoming 2025 Emmy Awards.
