Emma Stone is set to star in the highly anticipated film “Bugonia,” which features a unique promotional event tailored for bald individuals. The invite for a special free screening begins with the intriguing question, “Are you bald, or willing to become bald?” Attendees who do not already have a shaved head will be accommodated with on-site barbers to ensure that everyone meets the film’s unusual requirement.
“Bugonia,” directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and written by Will Tracy, is a gripping blend of thriller, sci-fi, and dark comedy. The movie, which hits theaters on October 24, is adapted from the renowned South Korean film “Save the Green Planet!” and showcases Stone in the role of Michelle Fuller, a powerful CEO in the pharmaceutical industry. Alongside her, Jesse Plemons plays Teddy Gatz, a man who becomes ensnared in conspiracy theories regarding alien infiltration of human society, leading him to abduct Michelle, whom he suspects to be an alien herself.
The cast also includes newcomer Aidan Delbis, who portrays Teddy’s cousin Don, as well as Stavros Halkias as a police officer and Alicia Silverstone as Sandy Gatz, Teddy’s ailing mother. The film sees Stone undergo a dramatic transformation early on, with scenes featuring her shaved head, infusing the narrative with both intensity and dark humor.
The unique “bald screening” will take place on October 20 at the Culver Theater in Culver City, California, with barbers ready two hours before the show. Event organizers noted that portions of the screening will be filmed for promotional purposes.
“Bugonia” marks Stone’s fifth collaboration with director Yorgos Lanthimos, and follows her recent Oscar-winning performance in “Poor Things,” solidifying her reputation as a versatile and talented actress. Stone’s partnership with Plemons also continues, as they previously starred together in “Kinds of Kindness.”
As anticipation builds for “Bugonia,” the film promises to deliver an engaging and entertaining blend of genres that will delight both fans of Emma Stone and cinema enthusiasts alike.
