Emma Dumont has publicly identified as a transmasculine, non-binary individual, now using they/them pronouns. The Oppenheimer star announced this significant change on their Instagram account after adopting the name Nick Dumont, although they will continue to be credited as Emma Dumont in their professional work.

Their representative confirmed the update to TMZ, stating that Dumont identifies as a transmasculine non-binary person, using Nick with friends and family while maintaining their work name in the industry. The term “transmasculine” refers to individuals assigned female at birth but who express or identify with masculinity, though not strictly as male.

Dumont, who is 30 years old, has not elaborated further on their journey at this time. However, they made a notable appearance in May, showcasing a new pixie haircut and sharing a heartfelt post on Instagram about their identity.

Notably, Dumont starred alongside Cillian Murphy in Christopher Nolan’s film Oppenheimer, playing the role of Jackie, the sister-in-law of the central character. They are also known for roles in Marvel’s The Gifted and NBC’s Aquarius and are slated to appear in the upcoming horror thriller New Me, which has finished filming, with a release date yet to be revealed.

Dumont joins a growing number of actors openly identifying as non-binary, including The Crown’s Emma Corrin. This shift illustrates an encouraging trend in the entertainment industry, where diverse sexualities and gender identities are increasingly celebrated. This visibility not only fosters acceptance but also inspires many in the LGBTQ+ community to embrace their authentic selves.

As society continues to evolve, it is essential to acknowledge and support individuals like Dumont who courageously share their experiences. Their journey serves as a reminder of the importance of representation and acceptance in all walks of life, encouraging others to feel empowered in their identities.
