Eminem’s Heartfelt Journey: Discover Grandfatherhood in New Music Video

Eminem has released a new music video for his song “Temporary,” which features a blend of old home movies and some new footage, including a memorable moment where he discovers he is going to become a grandfather.

The track, featuring Skylar Grey, serves as a heartfelt tribute to his daughter, Hailie Jade Mathers. The video showcases nostalgic clips of Eminem and Hailie from the late 1990s and early 2000s, coinciding with Eminem’s rise to fame, alongside more recent moments like Hailie’s wedding. One touching highlight is when she gives her father a Detroit Lions jersey that reads “Grandpa” on the back.

“Temporary” is part of Eminem’s latest album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), released in July. Last month, he launched an expanded version of the album that includes a new skit and three additional songs, including a new rendition of “Fuel” and the track “Kyrie and Luka,” featuring 2 Chainz.

Eminem began promoting The Death of Slim Shady earlier this year, framing the campaign around the demise of his Slim Shady persona. He even published a mock obituary in the Detroit Free Press, reflecting on the character’s “tortured existence.” Additionally, he took a chainsaw to his alter ego in the music video for “Tobey,” which featured fellow Detroit rappers Big Sean and BabyTron.

The rapper has also released music videos for the album’s lead single, “Houdini,” and “Somebody Save Me,” his collaboration with Jelly Roll. Eminem performed both songs at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards.
