Eminem Shakes Up the 2024 VMAs with a Show-Stopping Performance!

Eminem kicked off the 2024 MTV Music Video Awards with an electrifying performance of his new single “Houdini” from his latest album, “The Death of Slim Shady.” The event took place on September 11, 2024, at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York.

Dressed in a black T-shirt with bleached hair, Eminem showcased a dynamic performance that included a skit featuring a cast of his alter egos and a lookalike of his younger self. Later in the show, he was joined by Jelly Roll, who made a virtual appearance to perform their collaboration “Somebody Save Me,” as Jelly Roll was unable to attend the event due to his touring obligations.

“The Death of Slim Shady,” released in July, features tracks such as “Renaissance,” “Brand New Dance,” and “Houdini.” This marked Eminem’s first time opening the MTV VMAs in over a decade; his last opening performance was in 2010 with “Not Afraid” and a duet with Rihanna for “Love the Way You Lie.” In 2022, he shared the stage with Snoop Dogg for “From the D 2 The LBC.”

Eminem is nominated for eight awards at the 2024 VMAs, including video of the year, best hip-hop, and song of the summer. The awards show is being hosted by Megan Thee Stallion, with a lineup of performers that includes Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Shawn Mendes, Camila Cabello, Halsey, Lenny Kravitz, Rauw Alejandro, LL Cool J, Anitta, and GloRilla. Katy Perry will receive the Video Vanguard Award and perform a medley of her greatest hits.
