Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla and owner of X, spoke at the Milken Conference 2024 in Beverly Hills, California on May 6, 2024.
Former President Donald Trump was taken to a local medical facility after an incident during a rally in Pennsylvania. His spokesman assured that Trump “will be fine,” despite visible blood on the side of his head and ear.
In support, Musk wrote on X that he “fully” endorses Trump and wished him a swift recovery. This endorsement came shortly after Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, was hurried off stage by secret service members following gunshots at the rally.
Musk also posted a photo on X showing Trump pumping his fist in front of the American flag with secret service members moving to protect him. He compared Trump to Theodore Roosevelt, who survived an assassination attempt during his 1912 presidential campaign.
The district attorney in Butler County confirmed that one spectator from the rally is dead and another is in serious condition. The shooter has also been confirmed dead by NBC News.
Prior to this event, Musk had not directly endorsed Trump, though he had expressed opposition to President Joe Biden’s re-election. In March, he stated he would not donate to either presidential candidate.
Musk had previously met with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago club and mentioned at Tesla’s 2024 annual shareholder meeting that he has had conversations with Trump, who occasionally calls him out of the blue.
Bloomberg reported that Musk recently made a significant but undisclosed donation to a pro-Trump super PAC called America PAC.
Musk is currently the wealthiest person in the world, with an estimated net worth of about $250 billion, according to Forbes.
