The Denver Broncos hosted wide receiver Elijah Moore for a free-agent visit on Monday, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. As of now, no deal has been finalized.
Moore, who was selected in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, has played 70 games in his five-season career, spending time with the New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, and Buffalo Bills. Throughout his tenure, he has recorded 209 receptions for 2,274 yards and nine touchdown catches, along with two rushing touchdowns.
At 5-foot-10 and 178 pounds, Moore’s recent performance with the Bills saw him catch nine passes over the course of as many games this season before being waived on November 26, following the signing of wide receiver Brandin Cooks.
If the Broncos decide to sign Moore, he could bolster their receiving corps that currently includes Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims, Troy Franklin, Pat Bryant, and Lil’Jordan Humphrey. Should he join the practice squad, he would be accompanied by WRs A.T. Perry, Michael Bandy, and Kyrese Rowan, increasing his chances of advancing to the active roster.
Moore, now 25, made his mark at Ole Miss, where he achieved consensus All-American status and was recognized as a first-team All-SEC player. His scouting profile has drawn comparisons to former Steelers great Antonio Brown, noting his competitive edge and aptitude to manage a significant target share. His skills include precise route-running, reliability in making tough catches under pressure, and the ability to challenge defenses both short and deep.
In Week 13, four of the Broncos’ five wide receivers caught passes in their narrow 27-26 win over Washington, showcasing a solid passing game powered by quarterback Bo Nix. Nix’s impressive fall-down throw to Sutton caught the attention of head coach Sean Payton, who praised the play as a crucial moment in the game.
As the Broncos continue to explore their receiving options, the potential addition of Elijah Moore highlights their commitment to strengthening the team’s offensive capabilities. This move could pay dividends, not only enhancing depth but elevating their game as they strive to secure victories in the season ahead.
