Alex Garland has been announced as the writer and director for a live-action film adaptation of the acclaimed video game “Elden Ring.” This collaboration involves A24 and Bandai Namco Entertainment and was revealed on Thursday.
Originating from FromSoftware under the direction of Hidetaka Miyazaki, “Elden Ring” is grounded in a rich mythological narrative crafted by George R. R. Martin, renowned for his “A Song of Ice and Fire” series. Since its release on February 25, 2022, the action RPG has captivated players in a dark fantasy world, earning a staggering 30 million units sold globally. The game’s expansive environments and dungeons inspire exploration and a rewarding sense of achievement as players tackle various challenges.
The film will be produced by Peter Rice, Andrew Macdonald, and Allon Reich from DNA, in collaboration with Martin and Vince Gerardis.
