Eight individuals, including both Chinese and local nationals, are being held in custody following a series of drug raids in the Central division of Fiji. These arrests follow a concentrated effort to crack down on the illegal drug trade within the country.
In the Flagstaff area, two suspects, Josua Ravula and Yin Qing Qing, have been charged with unlawful possession of illicit drugs and possession of property suspected to be proceeds of crime. Meanwhile, in the first raid on Rewa Street, Yu Yang Fang, Minghui Dai, and Zhou Lan are facing similar charges. The second Rewa Street operation led to the arrest of Logamaisino Baules, Penisasi Delai, and Ginna Choi, who have also been charged with unlawful possession of illicit drugs. Additionally, Mr. Baules faces a charge related to being a prohibited immigrant, and Ms. Choi is being charged with possession of property suspected to be proceeds of crime.
These legal actions emphasize the collaborative efforts of Fiji’s law enforcement agencies, including the Serious Organised Crime and Intelligence Department (SOCID), Detector Dog Unit, Mobile Force, and Immigration Department. The operations were coordinated in consultation with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), demonstrating a robust legal framework against illicit drug activities.
This latest move is part of a larger initiative to address drug-related offenses across Fiji, following several other high-profile raids and arrests involving methamphetamine.
