A recent Random Breath Test operation conducted by the Police Force’s Traffic Enforcement Unit along the Namaka–Nadi corridor resulted in the arrest of eight drivers, including a police officer from Lautoka, for suspected drunk driving. The operation, which took place last night, involved testing a total of 237 drivers.
Police officials reported that while 20 drivers registered breath-alcohol readings below the legal limit and were released, the eight individuals who exceeded these levels were taken into custody. This operation underscores the persistent efforts of law enforcement to combat impaired driving and enhance road safety.
Such proactive measures are crucial in reducing the frequency of accidents linked to drunk driving, ultimately fostering safer roads for all users. The initiative reflects a commitment to public safety and underscores the importance of community awareness regarding the dangers of driving under the influence. As enforcement operations continue, there is hope that they will contribute to a significant decline in impaired driving incidents.
