Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, Badr Abdelatty, engaged in a conversation on Thursday with European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas. The discussion focused on Egypt’s ongoing efforts to foster regional security and stability amidst increasing challenges in the Middle East.
In this dialogue, Abdelatty highlighted the serious developments in the region, particularly the military tensions between Iran and Israel, and emphasized Egypt’s role in advocating for de-escalation through negotiations as a viable solution to achieve a sustainable agreement regarding Iran’s nuclear program.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tamim Khallaf relayed that Abdelatty also discussed Egypt’s collaborative initiatives with Qatar and the United States to establish a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, aiming to facilitate humanitarian aid to alleviate the severe humanitarian crisis in the area. He expressed hope that the EU would continue its humanitarian contributions to address these dire conditions.
Moreover, Abdelatty underscored the necessity of finding a political resolution to the Palestinian issue, promoting the two-state solution as the key to enduring regional stability. He also welcomed the European Parliament’s approval of the second tranche of EU financial support for Egypt, acknowledging the efforts of Kallas and the European External Action Service in strengthening the strategic partnership between Egypt and the EU.
This engagement reflects Egypt’s commitment to working closely with international partners, embodying a dedication to peace and cooperation in a time of turmoil. Such diplomatic efforts may pave the way for future stability and support in the region.
