Brooklyn Nets rookie guard Egor Demin is steadily making a name for himself, overcoming a rocky start as the eighth overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. As the team focuses on winning while also developing younger talent, Demin’s recent performances have begun to attract attention beyond the Nets’ fanbase.

In the games leading up to his absence against Dallas on Monday, Demin exhibited impressive shooting, hitting 24 of 46 three-pointers, reflecting a remarkable 52.2% success rate. Despite struggling with a 4-of-19 shooting average from inside the arc during the same stretch, his contributions have not gone unnoticed. NBA.com’s Steve Aschburner recently ranked him seventh in the rookie ladder, an increase of two spots from the previous week.

Nets head coach Jordi Fernandez expressed confidence in Demin’s abilities, emphasizing his strengths: “We believe that the shot was real… We just gotta work with him to adjust to this league.” He acknowledged that Demin possesses natural skills, and the team’s focus is on helping him develop in other facets of the game.

At just 19 years old, Demin is averaging 10.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game over 34 appearances, with notable shooting percentages of 40.6% from the field and 39.8% from beyond the arc. His performance has further improved since December, where he has elevated his averages to 12.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 3.5 assists while shooting 42.6% from the field and an impressive 44.0% from three-point territory.

However, one area of concern has emerged: Demin’s shooting profile reveals that 69.6% of his attempts have been from three-point range. While his accuracy from deep has impressed many—especially considering scouts were previously uncertain about how well his shooting would translate to the NBA—analysts and fans alike hope he will expand his shooting repertoire.

Overall, Demin’s progression signals promise for both his own career and the future success of the Nets, as he continues to shine amidst the challenges of the league.
