Education Minister Aseri Radrodro has confirmed that while acting allowances for teachers and non-teaching staff are being disbursed, some delays persist due to necessary verification and procedural requirements. This was in response to Opposition Member of Parliament Hem Chand, who raised concerns regarding the impact of delayed payments on staff morale and productivity, citing cases where teachers and Ministry staff had not received their allowances for several months.
Radrodro explained that the payments for acting allowances are conducted through strict verification processes to ensure that the funds reach the appropriate recipients. He acknowledged the challenges that have arisen from past instances of payments made to “ghost employees” within the Ministry of Education, asserting the importance of preventing such errors in the future.
“The allowance has been paid. For those that have not received their allowance, there is a process that needs to be followed. We have to ensure that the allowance has been paid to the right person,” Radrodro stated.
Additionally, the Minister addressed issues surrounding acting positions within the Ministry. He noted that some processes have been initiated to confirm these positions. However, with staff migration and departures for better opportunities, there is a pressing need to advertise and fill vacant roles according to the Organizational Management and Reporting System (OMRS) protocols.
Despite the current challenges, Radrodro emphasized that the Ministry remains dedicated to resolving staff concerns, aiming to create a more efficient and supportive working environment for educators and non-teaching staff alike. This commitment to improving staff conditions can ultimately lead to enhanced productivity and overall morale within the education sector.
