Two men were shot early Sunday morning in Jacksonville’s Edgewood area, prompting an urgent request for help from the police. The incident occurred around 3:40 a.m. at the parking lot of Tipsy Bar and Grill, where a large crowd had gathered. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, one man in his 30s sustained multiple gunshot wounds and is currently in critical condition, while another individual was also shot but is expected to survive.
Witnesses at the scene expressed their concern over the recent violence. “I’m just looking at the man in critical condition right now, but that was wrong, man,” said Michael, who was present at the bar during the incident. The shooting comes just a month after another alarming incident in which a man was shot in the head while driving in the same area, highlighting a troubling trend of violence in the neighborhood.
Residents are calling for increased police presence to help curb the violence. James Bell, a local community member, emphasized the need for more officers to ensure safety, stating, “We’re looking for more officers just to keep, you know, make a round trip every once in a while, you know, then settle everything down. It’s been kind of rough, but we can make it better.”
As of Sunday morning, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has not identified any suspects connected to this latest shooting and is appealing to the public for information. They urge anyone with details about the incident to reach out or to submit anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers.
This recent spate of violence underlines the importance of community vigilance and cooperative efforts to enhance safety measures in Jacksonville.
