Interestingly, he was named after legendary player Darren Daulton, who was a member of the Phillies during their 1993 World Series run.
Drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2017, Varsho transitioned from catcher to center field—a rare feat that has proven fruitful; he recently claimed the American League Gold Glove Award, which honors the top center fielder in the league. His pivotal performances helped propel the Blue Jays into the World Series.
