Eagles fans gathered at The Ocean Drive in Sea Isle City on Wednesday evening for Jason Kelce’s 5th Annual Team 62 fundraiser, which has successfully raised over $1.4 million since its inception in 2021. The event aims to support the Eagles Autism Foundation, an organization dedicated to funding research and care for Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Current and former Eagles players took on the roles of bartenders, including Cooper DeJean, Sydney Brown, and Connor Barwin, much to the delight of fans. Hollis Thomas also made a special appearance. Kelce stated, “One: It’s a great cause to raise money. Two: you get to have a blast with the fans and drink a bunch, and then three, you get to hang out with a bunch of guys you used to love hanging out with every day.”
Many attendees highlighted the personal significance behind the fundraiser. Grace Traa, a local resident, shared her appreciation, stating, “My daughter has special needs, and all of this really helps out with the events they do and research, and we’re just so appreciative.” Aleecia King, a teacher from Newark, Delaware, expressed her admiration for the Eagles’ commitment to autism awareness.
The event exemplified the connection between the team and their community, with fans expressing gratitude for the players’ involvement and goodwill. “It’s wonderful to see them give back,” remarked Rick Reilly from Kingwood, NJ. Kelce added, “The city bleeds green, and as players, you feel a responsibility to be a part of the community with all the love and respect and attention you get.”
This annual event not only fosters a sense of camaraderie among players and fans but also reinforces the Eagles’ commitment to making a positive impact in their community. The continued success of the fundraiser brings hope and support to many families affected by autism, showcasing the team’s dedication to giving back.
