Eagles Soar Past Commanders Despite Hurts’ Injury Scare

In a thrilling matchup, the Philadelphia Eagles secured a 26-18 victory over the Washington Commanders on Thursday night, solidifying their position as serious contenders in the NFC East. However, the game took a tense turn when quarterback Jalen Hurts was evaluated for a concussion after several hard hits during the first half.

Hurts faced a significant blow early on, as he was sacked by defensive back Frankie Luvu, causing his head to hit the turf. The quarterback briefly remained on the ground but managed to get back up. Later in the half, he was again under pressure, this time taken down by two defenders, which resulted in his helmet hitting the ground face-first.

As a precaution, Hurts was taken into the medical tent for a concussion evaluation right before halftime. Fortunately, he passed the protocol and was able to continue playing without missing a snap. After the game, he commented on the situation with a hint of humor, saying, “I guess I beat the protocol,” and when asked if he was surprised by his entry into the protocol, he simply noted, “It happens.”

Despite these challenges, Hurts delivered a commendable performance, completing 18 of 28 passes for 221 yards, along with rushing for 39 yards and a touchdown. His efforts, combined with running back Saquon Barkley’s striking performance of 146 rushing yards and two key fourth-quarter touchdowns, helped the Eagles extend their winning streak to six games.

With this victory, the Eagles climbed to the top of the NFC East standings, further enhancing their status as Super Bowl hopefuls. They will look to maintain their momentum as they head to Los Angeles for a matchup against the Rams on November 24.

This encouraging news for Eagles fans underscores the team’s resilience and capability to overcome adversity, especially with key players like Hurts leading the charge. Their upcoming games promise to be exciting as they strive for further success in the season.
