Eagles 2025: Are the 2023 Fears Returning or Is a New Era Beginning?

Eagles 2025: Are the 2023 Fears Returning or Is a New Era Beginning?

As comparisons between the Philadelphia Eagles’ current season and the 2023 season arise, fans have noted several striking similarities. Both the 2023 and 2025 teams experienced strong starts but displayed vulnerabilities, particularly on one side of the ball. Reuben Frank from NBC Sports Philadelphia recently examined these parallels, which have rekindled concerns about a potential downward spiral similar to that of the 2023 team, which ended their regular season by losing five out of six games before facing a first-round playoff exit.

However, left tackle Jordan Mailata is quick to dismiss the notion that the current team resembles the shortcomings of the 2023 squad. Appearing on 94WIP, he asserted, “This is nowhere near close to 2023,” drawing on his firsthand experience as part of both teams. He emphasized the difference in their daily practices, coaching techniques, and overall approach.

Mailata elaborated that while the team has its challenges, with eight wins to date, there is a fundamental shift in their practice regimen and attention to detail that marks a clear distinction from the 2023 season. “The coaching technique, it’s there this year. It wasn’t there in ’23,” he pointed out, indicating that the current coaching staff is effectively addressing the team’s in-game execution issues.

While Mailata acknowledges the similarities between the two seasons, he is adamant that the atmosphere and approach of the 2025 team set it apart. “I love the way we attack every day now. It’s just completely different to 2023,” he asserted.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni was also prompted to reflect on the lessons learned from the disappointing 2023 campaign during a recent press conference. He confirmed that experiences from that season have informed their strategies this year. Sirianni highlighted that the adversity faced in 2023 has played a crucial role in shaping their growth and development as a team, suggesting that setbacks can ultimately serve as a catalyst for improvement.

As the Eagles continue to navigate this challenging season, there is a sense of optimism for their ability to overcome obstacles. With a mix of resilience and a commitment to learning from past mistakes, the team appears poised to tackle its issues head-on, potentially steering themselves toward a more promising trajectory moving forward.
