Dylan Dreyer's Epic Adventure at Universal's New Theme Park

Dylan Dreyer’s Epic Adventure at Universal’s New Theme Park

Dylan Dreyer, the beloved meteorologist and co-anchor of the third hour of the Today show, recently shared her enthusiasm for Universal’s new Epic Universe theme park in Orlando, Florida, where she broadcast live in the days leading up to the park’s grand opening on May 22. Dreyer’s choice for the favorite themed area is none other than the Super Nintendo World, where she has fond memories of playing video games like Super Mario Party and Mario Kart with her three sons—Cal, Ollie, and Rusty.

Reflecting on her family’s passion for gaming, Dreyer revealed that her boys are ardent fans of Nintendo. “We’ve been obsessed with Nintendo since I was little,” she told PEOPLE. The new theme park features several captivating areas, including The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic, How to Train Your Dragon — Isle of Berk, Dark Universe, and Celestial Park.

Dreyer’s visit to the park wasn’t just for work; she brought her children along for the experience, allowing them to ride some of the attractions. However, her youngest son Rusty was deemed a bit too short for certain rides, which added a comical twist to their adventure.

While managing a busy travel schedule, Dreyer often finds herself juggling her roles as a mother and a broadcaster. This year, she had extensive travels, including a trip to Paris and a live broadcast from a cruise ship. Interestingly, she mentioned that despite her hectic schedule, she often gets better sleep while on the road compared to being at home with her lively children and pets.

Alongside her fellow anchors Craig Melvin and Al Roker, who also enjoyed the vibrant offerings of Orlando—ranging from theme parks to nature experiences—Dreyer expressed the importance of camaraderie while on the road. They not only shared work moments but also personal celebrations, such as Melvin’s birthday.

The new Epic Universe theme park adds to Orlando’s reputation as a destination filled with diverse attractions, promising fun for families and thrill-seekers alike. Dreyer’s joyful experience and the adventures she shares with her kids and colleagues highlight the precious moments that can be made through travel and exploration.
