Dylan Dreyer’s children celebrated their first Halloween in the suburbs after recently moving from Manhattan, embracing the more relaxed atmosphere of leafy streets compared to the bustling city apartment lifestyle. The TODAY meteorologist, along with her sons Calvin, 8, Oliver, 5, and Rusty, 4, quickly discovered that festive events in the suburbs tend to kick off earlier in the day.
During a conversation on TODAY with Sheinelle Jones and Craig Melvin, Dylan recounted that her kids were feeling the effects of their excitement by 5:30 PM. Calvin donned a New England Patriots football player costume, a nod to his father Brian Fichera’s Boston roots, while Oliver and Rusty opted for costumes inspired by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
After an enjoyable evening of trick-or-treating, Rusty took on the responsibility of handing out candy. However, he wasn’t particularly generous with his treats, as Dylan humorously noted that he offered just one Hershey’s Kiss to each visitor, leading to some disappointed children outside their home.
Earlier this year, Dylan expressed her bittersweet feelings about leaving New York City, where her family experienced challenges like cramped living spaces for their active boys. She mentioned the joy of moving to a place where her children have more room to play.
In addition to their Halloween adventures, Dylan showcased her family’s fondness for music during TODAY’s upcoming Halloween Extravaganza on October 31. She dressed as Frankie Valli from the Four Seasons, impressively transforming her look so much so that her son Oliver didn’t immediately recognize her. The family enjoys music from the Four Seasons, and her boys happily joined her in watching her rehearse her performance of “Walk Like a Man.”
This transition into suburban life seems to be a positive change for the family, providing more space for the children to grow and enjoy their childhood in a supportive environment.
