Dylan Dreyer recently provided an update on her colleague Sheinelle Jones following the passing of Jones’ husband, Uche Ojeh, earlier this year. Dreyer shared insights during an interview with Access Hollywood, highlighting Jones’ dedication to her role as a mother to their three children during this challenging time. “You know, she’s in ‘mom mode’ right now,” Dreyer said. “It’s a really tough time for the family. We’re all there to support her in any way we can.”
Since December 2024, Jones has been absent from the TODAY show, and in January, she mentioned on Instagram that she was dealing with a “family health matter.” On May 23, Savannah Guthrie revealed that Uche Ojeh had passed away at the age of 45 following a battle with brain cancer.
Jones, a devoted mom to Kayin, born in August 2009, and twins Uche and Clara, born in July 2012, is reportedly focusing on her children during this difficult period. Dreyer empathized with Jones’ situation, stating, “I can’t even imagine what they’re going through, and she’s just being strong for them.”
Despite her grief, Jones continues to embody the values of family unity she has often spoken about. In a past essay for TODAY, she emphasized the importance of her children supporting one another while also celebrating their individuality. “I try to show them that they’re ALL a team, and they have to take care of each other,” she wrote. This perspective underscores her resilience and commitment to nurturing a loving environment for her children, even as they navigate the loss of their father.
The TODAY family remains steadfast in their support for Jones during this time, reinforcing the close-knit bonds they share as colleagues. Dreyer reaffirmed that “it really is like a family,” ensuring that Jones has a network of support around her.
The hope arising from this situation is that through the love and support of her family and friends, Jones will find strength as she continues to guide her children through this painful chapter in their lives.
