The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua’s home games will play a crucial role in their quest for success in the upcoming Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific competition. General Manager for Commercial Affairs, Shane Hussein, expressed optimism regarding the newly confirmed venues for the 2026 season, which include Churchill Park in Lautoka and Four R Electrical, Govind Park in Ba. The team will be facing the Western Force and the Highlanders in these upcoming matches.
Hussein emphasized that playing in familiar surroundings significantly enhances a team’s chances of winning. “Home game locations play a huge role with successes of not just the Drua but every team,” he stated. This sentiment is substantiated by the Drua’s historical performance, which shows a marked increase in wins at home compared to away matches, especially at Churchill Park, a venue now famously known as “The Fortress.”
Last month, Govind Park successfully hosted the FMF Inter-District Championship, which saw over 13,000 fans in attendance for the grand final. This event helped set the stage for the Drua’s anticipated matches next year, as they prepare not only for local support but also to attract a broader audience via television coverage.
With the fixtures now solidified, Hussein indicated that the team can begin preparations for these important matches. “Having our home games now decided for 2026 allows our team, our players, and our coaching staff to plan for the season ahead. It’s a very exciting time,” he remarked.
The Drua’s 2026 campaign kicks off on February 14 with a home match against Moana Pasifika at Churchill Park, marking a promising start to the season. This will be a great opportunity for the team to leverage their home advantage early in the campaign as they look to build momentum.
Given their strong showing in recent home matches and the high hopes surrounding upcoming fixtures, the Fijian Drua are positioned to make a significant impact in the league and continue fostering the growing rugby culture in Fiji.
