Drive-By Shooting Leads to Standoff in Indiana Town

A man from Laurel, Indiana was arrested early Saturday morning after a drive-by shooting incident. According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, reports indicate that a vehicle passed by the Long Branch Tavern shortly before 1 a.m., during which the driver discharged several rounds at a parked truck.

Following the investigation, which included witness interviews and video analysis, authorities identified 49-year-old Jeremy Douglas Wilson as the suspect. He was found at his residence on Elm Tree Road, where he emerged brandishing an AR-15 style rifle. Wilson reportedly refused to follow directives from law enforcement, leading to a brief standoff. Fortunately, various local law enforcement agencies, including the Brookville Police Department, Rush County Sheriff’s Office, and Indiana State Police, arrived to assist the Franklin County deputies.

Subsequently, Wilson was apprehended without further incident. He faces felony charges regarding the shooting and has been placed in the Franklin County Security Center. Thankfully, no injuries were reported during this alarming event, and the specific motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
