A man from Laurel, Indiana, was apprehended early Saturday morning following a drive-by shooting incident. According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, the event occurred just before 1 a.m. when a vehicle passed by the Long Branch Tavern and the driver discharged multiple shots at a parked truck.
Following witness interviews and reviewing video footage, authorities identified 49-year-old Jeremy Douglas Wilson as the suspected shooter. Deputies found him at his residence on the 12,000 block of Elm Tree Road. When law enforcement arrived, Wilson emerged from his home brandishing an AR-15 style rifle and initially refused to comply with their commands, resulting in a brief standoff.
Several local law enforcement agencies, including the Brookville Police Department and Indiana State Police, lent support at the scene. Ultimately, Wilson was taken into custody without further incident. He has been charged with a felony related to the shooting and is currently held at the Franklin County Security Center.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the shooting, and the investigation into the motive remains ongoing.
