A man from Laurel, Indiana, was arrested early Saturday morning following a drive-by shooting incident. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident occurred just before 1 a.m. when a vehicle passed by the Long Branch Tavern, and the driver fired multiple shots into a parked truck.

Investigators gathered witness statements and reviewed video footage, which led them to identify and locate 49-year-old Jeremy Douglas Wilson at his home on Elm Tree Road. When deputies arrived at the residence, Wilson emerged armed with an AR-15 style rifle and initially refused to follow their commands, leading to a brief standoff.

Additional law enforcement agencies, including the Brookville Police Department, Rush County Sheriff’s Office, and Indiana State Police, were called to the scene to provide support. Ultimately, Wilson surrendered to deputies without further incident.

He has been charged with a felony in connection to the shooting and is currently being held at the Franklin County Security Center. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident, and the motive remains unclear.

This situation highlights the importance of community vigilance and prompt law enforcement action, which can lead to the swift resolution of potentially dangerous situations. It also serves as a reminder of the work done by local police agencies to ensure public safety, even in tense circumstances.
