Drier Weather Ahead for Western Washington as Ridge Forms Over Alaska

A drier weather pattern is expected to return to western Washington next week as a ridge of high pressure develops over the Gulf of Alaska. This weather shift follows the recent rain that accompanied Thanksgiving, allowing for more sunshine and cooler temperatures across the region.

Starting Friday, the forecast calls for partly sunny skies with daytime highs reaching the low 50s, while overnight temperatures dip to the mid-40s. Snow levels in the mountains will remain elevated, fluctuating between 4,000 to 5,000 feet.

On Saturday, conditions will mostly stay dry, but a weak system passing over the ridge may lead to spotty afternoon or evening showers. Highs will be in the mid to upper 40s, with lows ranging from the upper 30s to lower 40s, and mountain snow levels will lower to between 3,000 and 4,000 feet. Fans attending the Husky game should be prepared with rain gear, though the showers could miss Husky Stadium altogether.

Sunday will bring clearer skies, though it will remain chilly with morning lows in the low to mid-30s and highs around the mid-40s. Attendees of the Seahawks game at Lumen Field can look forward to sunny weather and cool temperatures. The event will also serve as an opportunity to contribute to KING 5’s Home Team Harvest, supporting Northwest Harvest with volunteer donations outside the stadium.

Looking ahead to Monday and Tuesday, another weak weather system is forecasted to bring a chance of precipitation. High temperatures will hold steady in the mid to upper 40s, while overnight lows will stay in the upper 30s to low 40s. Light mountain snow is expected, potentially adding a few inches at the passes as snow levels continue to hover between 3,000 and 4,000 feet. Scattered showers might linger into Wednesday under mostly cloudy skies.

Overall, this upcoming week promises a mix of sunshine, clouds, and occasional showers, providing a refreshing change after the recent rainfall.
