Organizers of the upcoming Dream Con 2025, a Houston-based anime convention, have publicly apologized to Megan Thee Stallion for their interaction with social media comments that supported Tory Lanez, just hours after announcing her as a headlining guest. The Black-owned convention expressed their remorse, stating, “We love and support Megan Thee Stallion,” and acknowledged that their engagement with negative comments directed at her contributed to a toxic online environment.

In their statement shared on X, Dream Con took full responsibility for their actions and emphasized their commitment to creating a safe and inclusive atmosphere for all attendees. They referred to Megan as a “powerhouse in music and culture,” recognizing her influence and the resilience she represents for many.

Megan Thee Stallion, a three-time Grammy winner and avid anime fan, was announced as a headliner on May 21. Shortly after, fans noticed the convention’s account engaging with pro-Lanez comments, despite Lanez currently serving a 10-year prison sentence for shooting Megan in 2020.

This incident follows another recent social media controversy involving GloRilla, who faced backlash after sharing a post featuring Lanez’s song, prompting her to clarify that the post was unintended and innocent.

Additionally, unfounded claims have surfaced this week from a former bodyguard about who was responsible for the shooting incident, but Megan’s legal team has firmly rejected these assertions, stating that the case was adequately resolved in court.

Megan has openly expressed her frustration over continuous public scrutiny regarding her experience, asking when the harassment would cease. As the Dream Con approaches, it remains crucial for the community to stand united against negativity and support artists like Megan who advocate for empowerment and healing.
