Reservations are now open at The White Lotus Hotel as HBO has officially released the trailer for the much-anticipated third season of “The White Lotus,” which relocates the Emmy-winning series to Thailand.
Set to unfold over the course of one chaotic week, the new season promises a whirlwind of drama, as hinted in the trailer with scenes of conflict among guests, a masked figure wielding a gun, and a character unexpectedly falling from a boat. The season’s tagline, “Seeking peace can be a trip,” aligns with a theme introduced by a monk in the trailer, who suggests that the pursuit of pleasure often leads to new forms of pain.
The inaugural season, which took place in Hawaii, made waves by winning 10 Emmys, including the prestigious award for outstanding limited or anthology series. Following its success, Season 2 was set in Sicily, featuring a new ensemble cast while bringing back Jennifer Coolidge’s character Tanya. Season 2 garnered 23 Emmy nominations, winning five awards, showcasing the continued acclaim of this unique anthology.
This season marks the first absence of Jennifer Coolidge, whose character met her end in the last season finale. However, Natasha Rothwell is returning as Belinda, the spa manager from Season 1, in a storyline where she is on an exchange program. Creator Mike White will also reprise his role as writer and director, ensuring continuity in the show’s creative vision.
The Season 3 cast features a host of talented actors, including Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, and Parker Posey. HBO describes Bibb, Coon, and Monaghan as three longtime friends on a reunion trip, while Goggins portrays a rugged man accompanied by his girlfriend. Isaacs will play a wealthy businessman vacationing with his family, and Posey’s character is a mother on holiday with her kids.
Additional cast members include Sarah Catherine Hook, Lalisa Manobal, and Patrick Schwarzenegger, among others. Patravadi will portray one of the hotel owners and the visionary behind its wellness program, adding depth to the story’s backdrop.
The premise revolves around a social satire set in an exclusive Thai resort, focusing on the interactions of various guests and employees over the week, reflecting White’s previous comments hinting at a humorous exploration of death and Eastern spirituality.
Mark your calendars for the premiere of “The White Lotus” Season 3 on Sunday, February 16, airing on HBO and streaming on Max.
