Douglas County School Board trustees are set to consider a declaration of financial emergency, potential reductions in workforce, and consolidation measures during their meeting today at 4 p.m. The meeting will take place at the Airport Training Center, located at 1126 Airport Road, Building G1.

In a separate session, the Minden Town Board will discuss a potential agreement to transfer ownership of the dog park behind the school district offices to the town. This meeting will occur at 5:30 p.m. today in the CVIC Hall.

Meanwhile, the Genoa Town Board plans to review the annual rental rates for town buildings during their meeting at 4:30 p.m. at the historic town hall. The current rate for renting the building is $1,072.50 for 16 hours with seating arrangements for 120 guests.

In community events, a peer-led program will take place at the Douglas County Community & Senior Center today at 3:30 p.m., with sessions scheduled for the first and third Wednesdays of each month. Additional details can be found on the website www.spnawareness.org.

Weather updates indicate a winter weather advisory is in effect for Western Nevada, starting from Gardnerville to Verdi, tonight at 9 p.m. through until 7 a.m. Thursday. This advisory warns of snow bands that may bring snowfall to the Valley floor.

The daily forecast predicts cloudy skies shifting towards clearer weather by midday, with a high reaching around 47 degrees. Winds are expected to intensify from the west at speeds of 10-15 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph. If any snow does occur, it is likely to materialize overnight.
