Police in Volusia County, Florida, are currently investigating the tragic deaths of a 61-year-old woman and a 62-year-old man. The incidents occurred on Tuesday, with the woman found in New Smyrna Beach and the man in South Daytona.

The investigation began when a woman from out of state contacted the New Smyrna Beach Police Department, expressing concern after a disturbing conversation with a local resident. The resident, identified as the 61-year-old woman, reportedly confessed to killing her boyfriend and indicated plans to take her own life. When police arrived, they found the woman had already died by suicide prior to their contact.

Following this, the New Smyrna Beach Police asked the South Daytona Police Department to conduct a welfare check on the man’s residence. Upon arrival, officers discovered the 62-year-old man deceased.

The New Smyrna Beach Police Department is leading the investigation surrounding the woman’s suicide, while the South Daytona Police Department is focused on the man’s homicide investigation. Both departments are working closely together to piece together the events that occurred.

As the identities of the deceased are still being held until next-of-kin notifications are made, the investigation continues to progress. Additional information will be shared as it becomes available, and the local community remains hopeful for clarity regarding this tragic situation.
