The Miami Dolphins showcased their new “Rivalries” alternate uniforms during the “Monday Night Football” clash against the New York Jets. These uniforms feature a striking “pitch blue” color—a very dark navy, appearing almost black—designed to evoke the deep, dark ocean waters. The traditional Dolphins aqua stands out on the numbers and sleeves, while orange accents highlight the names on the back and Miami’s name across the front.
The helmet carries the “pitch blue” theme, adorned with the Dolphins’ logo in aqua and a central stripe lined with orange. Even Hard Rock Stadium embraced the new design with revamped logos on the field. The Dolphins began their preparations by practicing in the new dark helmets, with safety Ashtyn Davis expressing childlike excitement for this fresh look, especially given it’s his first season with the team.
Miami’s quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, showed his support, describing the uniforms as “dope.” Since their unveiling in late August, the jerseys have been heavily promoted on social media. They form part of Nike’s “Rivalries” campaign, which celebrates AFC East and NFC West division rivalries throughout the 2025 season. The Jets are also set to wear their alternate uniforms during their December 7 matchup against the Dolphins at MetLife Stadium.
Despite the excitement surrounding the new look, not all is well within the franchise. Two banners calling for changes in the Dolphins’ leadership flew over Hard Rock Stadium during recent home games. The latest, displayed during the tailgating before Monday’s game, urged for a new coach, GM, and quarterback.
In terms of roster adjustments, the Dolphins placed rookie cornerback Jason Marshall Jr. on injured reserve to make room for kicker Riley Patterson. Marshall injured his hamstring in the previous week’s game against the Buffalo Bills and will need to miss at least four games. Despite this setback, the team maintained strategic depth with just four healthy cornerbacks ready to play against the Jets, necessitating the potential use of safety-heavy defensive packages.
Additionally, the right guard position remains in flux, with Cole Strange participating in pregame warmups with the first team. Strange, who joined after the initial game of the season, could offer stability that the Dolphins need as they continue adjusting to key injuries on their roster.
