The Miami Dolphins have decided to part ways with veteran outside linebacker Matt Judon, as reported by Mike Garafolo. This move allows the Dolphins to focus on developing their younger talent while Judon may find an opportunity with a more competitive team as the season progresses.

Judon, who is 33 years old, was initially drafted by the Baltimore Ravens as a fifth-round pick in 2016. He completed the final year of his four-year, $2.595 million contract before being franchised by the Ravens. Following this, he signed a lucrative four-year, $56 million deal with the New England Patriots. Entering the last year of that contract, Judon was traded to the Atlanta Falcons before the 2024 season in a deal that included a third-round pick.

The Dolphins brought Judon on board with a one-year contract in August. During his time with Miami in 2025, he played in 13 games, accumulating 19 total tackles, one tackle for loss, and one pass deflection, but did not register any sacks.

The decision to waive Judon underscores Miami’s commitment to building a youthful roster capable of sustaining long-term success. As he moves on, there is potential for Judon to contribute his experience and skills to a team in pursuit of a playoff push, signaling hope for both the veteran player and the Dolphins’ future.
