Dolphins Fans Weigh In: Who Should We Snag from the Commanders?

Last week, as the Washington Commanders visited for a joint practice and a pre-season game, I posed a question to fans: If you could choose any player from the Commanders roster to add to the Miami Dolphins, who would it be and why? Additionally, who would you cut from the Dolphins’ roster, assuming they are likely to make the regular season team?

I inadvertently copied the question from a previous post about the Atlanta Falcons and failed to adjust the team names, but thankfully, readers understood my intent. Here are some of the most interesting responses to the question.

Alley Gator is interested in acquiring a promising rookie quarterback as a backup. He suggested Jayden Daniels, noting that with Miami’s offensive line struggles, they’ll need a strong insurance option behind center.

Saskatchefin wants to fortify the defense and suggested Daron Payne to fill the defensive tackle position, alongside Jeremy Chinn to bolster the safety group.

sdphinsfan is eyeing a potential star in the tight end position, Ben Sinnott, praising his blocking and receiving skills, indicating he could be a future standout.

The Earl proposed adding Terry McLaurin, describing him as possibly the most underrated wide receiver in the league. With consistent 1,000-yard seasons, he emphasized McLaurin’s impressive route-running abilities even with less-than-ideal quarterbacks.

Yarganaught joked about already snagging a desired player, mentioning Will Fuller, who Miami had recently signed.

JKBMia presented a list that included a rookie QB, center, tackle, and defensive lineman, expressing disappointment that the Dolphins hadn’t drafted Tyler Biadasz years earlier. He’s considering replacing either Driscoll or some defensive tackles.

dedstrk316 suggested a strategic “steal and trade” move, expressing love for Jayden Daniels but contemplating the idea of trading him for draft picks given Miami’s recent signing of Tua Tagovailoa.

Dolfanjoe backed Sinnott, indicating he’s a promising young tight end who could make an impact.

21Dave called for a tough defensive tackle like Daron Payne, while phinette emphasized the need for a center, advocating for Tyler Biadasz following heavy competition in his position.

TheRoo1 humorously suggested renaming the Commanders to reflect their regional identity, making a playful remark about “Washington Con Men,” and proposed “Federal fuqqups” as another option.

72Phins4ever suggested trading a backup quarterback for a center, calling this strategy worthy of a GM of the year award.

SuperG! echoed sentiments shared by many Dolphins fans, expressing uncertainty about who to select from the Commanders’ offensive line.

Lastly, daytonadolfan made a light-hearted request questioning if they could acquire the Commanders’ water boy.

There were numerous great suggestions, particularly for offensive line positions, which raises valid concerns about the team’s performance, given the current challenges on the line. Fans remain hopeful for potential trades to enhance the squad as the season approaches. Thank you to all who participated in this discussion.
